Hi, everyone! ?

I'm Sharon Jones, and I'm excited to serve as your Area Representatives Chair this year!

I've been in Child Nutrition for 23 years, and I still love this profession as much as I did when I started. Every day is an opportunity to learn something new, solve a challenge, and make a difference for students.

One of my favorite things is teaching kids about hydroponic farming. Seeing their excitement when they realize that lettuce, herbs, and other vegetables can be grown without soil is pretty amazing! I love finding new ways to connect students with where their food comes from.

I'm also a lifelong learner. Whether it's attending trainings, earning certifications, networking with colleagues, or trying new ideas in my district, I believe there's always something new to discover.

A few people have asked why I wanted to serve on the TASN Board. My answer is simple: this profession has given me so much over the last 23 years, and I wanted an opportunity to give something back. I've learned from incredible leaders along the way, and I hope to do the same for others. If I can encourage someone, share an idea, connect people with resources, or simply listen, then I'm doing what I set out to do.

I'm looking forward to getting to know all of you, learning from your experiences, and supporting you however I can. Please don't hesitate to reach out—I can't wait to connect!

Here's to a great year together!

Hi!
I’m Teresa Evans, Director of Nutrition Services for Crosby ISD and your TASN Area 3 Representative.

I’m excited to be at conference and would love the opportunity to meet you. If you’re in Area 3 (or even if you’re not!), stop by the Meet Your Area Rep table tomorrow between 1:30–3:30 p.m. I’d love to visit with you, answer questions, and help however I can.

A student favorite in Crosby ISD is our Homemade Pozole Verde with all the traditional toppings. It’s absolutely delicious and one of my favorites too!

The things I enjoy most about working in school nutrition is giving back to our community and helping students discover and enjoy new foods. There’s nothing better than seeing a student try something new and love it!

A topic I’d love to discuss with other members is how we can encourage our school boards to better prioritize and recognize the incredible work our school nutrition teams do every day. Our staff make a difference in students’ lives, and they deserve to be celebrated.

I can’t wait to connect with everyone and make this a great conference. See y’all tomorrow!

Good afternoon everyone!

My name is Darin Crawford, and I am proud to serve our members as the Public Policy and Legislative Chair. In my day job I am the Assistant Superintendent for Support Services at Cypress-Fairbanks ISD.

I look forward to seeing everyone at conference, making new connections, and spreading the word about the good things that we do for students every day.

The school meal that I love the most is pizza made with whole grain crust and lowfat mozzarella cheese. It's a great way to support our farmers by using commodities and it tastes delicious!

Welcome to the TASN Member Exchange! This has been a vision of ours on the TASN Executive Committee for a few years. We are so pleased to see you here.

My name is Susan Kehrer D'Amico. I'm currently the TASN President and Executive Director in Aldine ISD. I've been in school nutrition for over 30 years and care deeply about seeing a bright future for the professionals in TASN, and especially for the kids we serve.

I look forward to seeing you at the state conference in Grapevine on June 28 and then handing the Presidential torch to my very capable colleague, John Ceballos, Coordinator from Klein ISD.

Please introduce yourself here, and when you see me in person!

Susan

Hello everyone!

My name is Jennifer Miller, and I serve as the Director of Student Nutrition Services for Garland ISD. Garland is in TASN Area 5. I am currently the Vice President of TASN and am excited to use this new platform to connect with TASN members across Texas.

One of the reasons I love working in school nutrition is the collaborative environment. Unlike many professions, we are all here to help each other succeed. There is no competition—when one of us finds a better way to serve students, we all benefit. The stronger we are collectively, the stronger our profession becomes, and ultimately, the better we can serve Texas students.

I’m especially looking forward to this year’s annual conference because it provides an opportunity to learn new ideas, hear innovative approaches from our peers, and strengthen the relationships that make our association so valuable. I always leave inspired by the passion, creativity, and willingness to share that exists within our profession.

I look forward to meeting many of you at conference in Grapevine and getting to know you through this forum. Hope to see you soon!
